Port Solent Marina

Portsmouth, South East, United Kingdom

Port Solent presents a unique marine environment, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Cosmopolitan yet convivial, and with 808 berths framed by attractive waterside properties, this is the country's third largest marina.

Close to Portsmouth, Britain's intriguing marine heritage centre, Port Solent is ideally situated for both Solent and cross-channel cruising or racing.

An increasingly popular cruising destination, Port Solent is also well connected by road for London and other major centres, providing swift, uncomplicated access for maximising yachting opportunities.

Facilities

One of only eight marinas to hold the Yacht Harbour Association's Five Golden Anchor Award, Port Solent's shoreside facilities are extensive and excellent. From the first class lifting dock and travel hoist, carrying up to 40 tons, to the range of independent repair and maintenance services, and boat sales new and used, to the wide variety of shops, restaurants and even a multiplex cinema, Port Solent is an exciting and sophisticated yachting centre.

There are also toilets, showers, a launderette and access to fuel and gas.

location

Port Solent is situated in the Northeast corner of Portsmouth Harbour, vessels bound for the marina should follow the defined channel.

On the eastern side of the harbour is Fountain Lake (continental ferry port) and the mud flats in the centre are bounded by two channels. The one to the NW leads to Fareham, while the other channel, to the NE, called Portchester Lake, leads to Port Solent.

The entrance to Portchester Lake is marked to the west by pile 57 and to the east by pile 95. The whole channel is marked by red piles to west, numbered 57 to 74 (leave to port) and by green piles to the east running from 95 to 75. Nineteen of the piles are lit by navigational lights and the characteristics of these lights are designed to avoid confusion between succeeding piles.

Other Details

Above Portchester Castle, the channel becomes narrow but clearly defined by yacht mooring and piles. On approach, contact the lockmaster on VHF 80 at pile 78.

Port Solent Marina offers a range of annual, seasonal and short stay berthing rates, for an up to date listing of these rates, please contact the marina.
